When your not looking beauty finds you.... A walk in Central Park

One of my favorite places in the city at any hour and especially in the very early hours just before the dawn, or the start of dusk, is the upper west side entrance of Central Park on 86th street . I don't have access to it on a daily basis, and visiting it is almost like a vacation while in the city or a "staycation". 
There are very few public parks in Athens that are well cared for unfortunately, and my search for nature while in Manhattan is ever more present, so I crave that connection with the smell of freshly cut grass and the explosion of aroma from blooming flowers.

I recently took care of my favorite dog friend Gabriel. My canine friend and his mum live in a lovely apartment in the Upper West Side right next to the park, so our long walks transformed into small excursions in the early days of summer. After two hours walking and exploring, I was in a constant state of nirvana with the endless beauty of the flowers, the gardens, the people laid out in the late afternoon sun, and the soft summer night air as we returned back home. Central Park transforms during the spring and summer into an urban oasis, a jungle within the urban jungle. Here's a little photographic tour, as my words fail to describe the beauty I discovered. This is my little escape from the busy, loud NY streets. Enjoy.

Crossing the threshold into the New Year, I wanted to share more stories of some young, talented, and recently transplanted Greeks living, creating and thriving in New York. We all have a reason for being here, and we all have come from different backgrounds and situations. Some left because they had no choice,  some left to study and never went back, some left because their lives had come to a standstill in Greece, because of the financial crisis and they desperately needed a new vision.  We are here,  we've moved from our homes,  our comfort zone our familiar and our settled lives, and made new homes from the beginning. Newness and Re-flections for the new year

After the whirlwind of the new year I have had a lot to write about but almost no time to sit down and put to words succinct thoughts, and to share the last moments and impressions of the old year. Upon the threshold of the new year I made a pact, that I would write from the heart and that I would compose more interesting fun stories from my travels and my adventures here in New York. So much has happened so much has changed and a lot has remained the same…. 2013 was by no means easy it was a year of deep transformation, big decisions and great change. It has left me with much to think about in terms of choices, people and energy given and shared with those close and far away.
