It's My Pleasure-- a declaration of mutual understanding.

You want a piece of me but not all of me You say you cum on the sheets at the sight of me but can't you see? You ain't really lookin.  You say your hard for me and wanna lick these  but you're oblivious to the fact that   this part of me  of me is a fantasy and your blind ass can't see the reality cause you lookin through me, not at me  at some version of your teenage wet dreams.  Can't you see that I'm broken and swollen?   Not from your hotness but from what I lack less.... But I strive... to survive  You don't stress, It's like Chess.  I'm like a game to you, a pawn on a board that you move when it strikes you but big daddy, it's not about winning or losing but how you play the game.  C'mon player it's like taking layer upon layer off... of our souls, and that's where you'll find the gold. Or so I'm told.  Don't be so bold as to think you're unique in your pursuit of the u...

The Life of The Party the phenomenon of Morning Clubbing

Image
There are many things I pictured myself doing at 6 am in the morning, Yoga, Mediation, or a long run in central park with my favorite dog friend Gabriel, but Morning Clubbing with the Daybreaker Crew wasn't on my list, until this past June.  A dear friend took me to one of their gatherings, and I had no idea what I was up for.  I've been a clubber girl in my youth, dancing like a maniac from 12am to 5am at clubs in Athens, London,  New York (in the 90's) and yes even Mykonos, and I thought,  I'm over that now I'm a serious Yogi,  I don't do that stuff any more,  I'm too old for that now right? Wrong! And not only have I encountered some lovely HAPPY, and bright faces of all ages in these morning dance parties, I've also met some talented musicians, performers, singers, MC's and lovers of all things wacky and different. People who aren't afraid to be bold and daring walking, no strutting on the early morning streets of NYC with boas, loud m...

Our House-- Broome Street Temple.

Image
One does not come here to leave but to stay. One does not come here by chance or for a short time, one comes here and spends a lifetime, enters and leaves a changed person. One does not leave without friends, lovers, family, children and lifelong partners. One does not enter this space without changing their lives and the lives of others. We have traveled from far away and for many a dreary morning to morning chanting and daily practice. We took at these walls as a pulsating, vibrating life force that has become us and us it. The colors changed, the lights became brighter, the box changed from gold to metalic, the floors from wood with gold squares to grey with that special bump in the middle and still, and still you walk in and its like nothing else in the world. This is our House or home our sanctuary our place of worship and reflection. Its our family our community our quiet corner of a busy, noisy, smelly and often crazy city.  This place made New York worth living. Today af...

New York Summer-- A trip to the Beach

Image
New York Summer - A trip to the Beach Its my third summer in New York and now more than ever I'm finding my bearings in the little neighborhoods, beaches and distant gems of seaside New York.  It was the third weekend in June and as luck would have it we all had the day off to venture out for a small day trip.  The weather finally permitted, after many a rainy weekend, and my crazy group of friends and I decided to go to THE Hamptons for the first time in my three years in NY.  Yes THE Hamptons. I had many images of what that would be like and certainly none came close to the reality. Despite the fact that its considered the summer playground for who's who glitterati of the city for us simple explorers it was a chance to take an early and somewhat empty summer look at this part of Long Island. It was so beautifully quiet and the Atlantic water bitterly cold, at least for my taste. I'm used to the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean so the frigid waters ...

Entering the Beast

Image
"A fine web of history stink and art." Entering the cavernous iron dungeon.  Millions of people take these trains from the early hours in the morning for work, till the next day after a long night in the city that never sleeps. It's where many fellow city dwellers find a home where they have none. It's a brutal heartless soulless beast. It connects the poorest to the richest by just a couple of stops, the Bronx with Park Avenue, and Queens with Central Park West and the Financial District with Coney Island.  A fine web of history stink and art. Music, dance, protest song, drag shows begging laughing sleeping everything happens in the subways and station platforms of the New York City subway system. The most interesting of stops along the way for me, is Union Square, one of the epicenters a of the strange and bizarre. When you come up from those steps anything and everything will amaze you. What usually always surprises me is the connections made unde...

New York reads and tunes--Subway Stories

Image
Recently I boarded the train for work as I do every morning, and instead of burring my head in a book or listening to music, I made a point to observe  my fellow train riders, and made a pact. Instead closing my self off like I usually do I would look at the people around me, see what they are doing and reading and listening to. My discovery was not surprising but what I did realize was that New Yorkers use the subway as an extension of their private spaces. New Yorkers tune out, log out, and block out each other especially on the train. ( at times its really not an option) The train commute lends itself one of three things:  reading,  listening to music and catching up on much needed sleep, (yes I've done all three) yet what always surprises me is what New Yorkers use the trains for on a daily basis. This personal/private/public space has always fascinated me from the first time I lived here back in 1999. Its a microcosm of the world outside and intimate moments in t...
